Robert Plant Announces New Solo Album and Releases Single

After posting cryptic messages on social media, teasing the new release, Robert Plant has finally confirmed that his new solo album, ‘Carry Fire’, is coming out on 13th October. A new song, ‘The May Queen’, has also been revealed.

A tour of the UK and Ireland was also announced: Plant is going to perform in 14 cities in November and December this year. One of the stops is London’s Royal Albert Hall.

‘Carry Fire’ is the former Led Zeppelin singer’s 11th solo LP, following 2014’s ‘Lullaby And… The Ceaseless Roar’. The Sensational Shape Shifters are the backing band, and the record features Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders on a cover of Ersel Hickey’s ‘Bluebirds Over The Mountain’, which was also recorded by the Beach Boys. Another guest on one of the tracks is folk singer Seth Lakeman.

“It’s about intention. I respect and relish my past works, but each time I feel the incentive to create new work, I must mix old with new,” Plant said about the new album. “Consequently, the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat – the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation.”

‘Carry Fire’ is being released via Nonesuch/Warner. Those who pre-order the album before 20th August will gain priority access to tour tickets, which will go on sale on 25th August.

  1. Demando Credito

With this “new” release the children and grandchildren of deceased artists will be listening very closely. On the flip side, no pun intended, Mr Plant probably went to great lengths to produce something that is actually original.
