The next Factory de Joie takes place on Saturday 28th April at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney, London. Expect a night of psychedelia, hedonism and rock ‘n’ roll, inspired by the 60s and 70s! The event features a lot of live music, burlesque and go-go dancing, performance art, projections and DJ’s.
Factory de Joie started nearly two years ago, in the summer of love (2016), at Genesis Cinema in East London. Created by burlesque and go-go dancer Hélène de Joie, the night fuses together live music, dance, performance art and visuals to bring you an immersive and hedonistic night of rock ‘n’ roll, reminiscent of those heady nights of the 60s!
Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory, Hélène wanted to bring something different to the London music and cabaret scenes, as it often felt the two were worlds apart. Combining her passion and love of live music and dance, Factory de Joie was born!
“I was lucky enough to know and be friends with some great and inspiring people who helped out and took a chance on my first event. Some of them are still involved two years down the line!” Hélène says. “I have created what feels like a little family and have a few resident acts, including DJ John the Revelator, spinner of ‘the best fuzzed-out garage and wild 60s psych on the scene’ and founder of Have Love Will Travel, garage psych band the Pacers, burlesque dancer Constance Peach and go-go and burlesque dancer Bella Boom. However, I am always looking for and welcoming fresh talent, and am very excited to have four-piece psych band the Liquorice Experiment joining us at our event on the 28th April!”
