Callaway XR Hybrid | 60S Today

The Callaway XR Hybrid is aimed at the widest range of golfers, those seeking distance and forgiveness in all conditions.

The CEO of Callaway is Chip Brewer, a keen product man. Prior to this, he was CEO of Adams Golf, who have a history of producing great hybrids. Now Callaway’s are on Adams’ heels becoming the Gold Medal Winner of the Golf Digest 2015 Hot List.

The Callaway XR Hybrid features new and improved technology that makes the ball easier to hit, increasing ball speed and distance. Callaway’s statement at release of the XR hybrid stated they are “built for outrageous speed”.

The Callaway design team have raised the moment of inertia (MOI) rating by 8 percent and lowered the center of gravity (CG) by 46 percent as well as reconfiguring the club-head. This is what makes the hybrid forgiving, accurate and long in use.

Matt black is the simple, business-like colour with a subtle, almost blended in, ‘V’ arrow on the crown. The red and blue on the sole gives the club a sporty look. The grooves on the face are wide. The head is very much bigger than the XJ Pro hybrid from Callaway, for the more experienced golfer.

Sound and Feel

This is a meaty club, with the Callaway sound on impact. With such a large head, the ball seems to stay on the face a long time, but the feedback is good. The head-heavy weighting responds well to smooth, easy swings.

The sound of the almost traditional Callaway ‘zing’ from the shaft is pleasant. The shafts are light which may be a struggle for better players who may suit the XR Pro version better.

Callaway-XR-2The XR hybrid is effortless in play. This makes it a good club to rescue you and get you back in play with reasonable distance. It is excellent in windy conditions with it’s low, driving trajectory. The shot it produces also goes higher and the ball lands more softly on the green with less roll-out.

The XR very forgiving. It offers correction when you’re having an off day with thin hits, which this club corrects to good shots. It is also great out of the rough where fairway woods just can’t get the ball up and out. Also good for punching out from under trees and bushes.

Callaway’s XR hybrid consistently adds 10+ yards than other clubs. It’s like you’ve put rock fuel in the golf balls. The variable face thickness that adds distance also generates an extra 2mph ball speed.

The XR is a hybrid that offers increased distance. It has been suggested that it might be a better fit for someone looking to replace a 5-wood than a 5-iron. Try the XR hybrid on the next Callaways demonstration day, or visit their performance centres and fitting studios for a test drive.

James Hinchcliffe is a celebrity from Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars.

Retrieved from James Hinchcliffe is arguably one of the most popular drivers in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Currently in his sixth racing season and second for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, the affable Canadian has four Indy car wins, ten podiums and one pole position to date. He was voted IndyCar’s Favorite Driver in 2012 by the fans and was 2011 Verizon IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year.

In 2015, the 29-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries from a practice crash for the Indianapolis 500, which ended his season after only five races. After a long road to recovery and rehabilitation, James returned to racing this year in even better shape than before. He earned his first IndyCar pole at the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, the venue that almost destroyed his career.

The self-proclaimed Mayor of Hinchtown, his internet civilization, also is the namesake of Hinchtown Hammer Down Ale, a craft beer from Flat12 Bierwerks in Indianapolis. Away from the track, James is a certified Scuba diver and will often be found below the surface getting some “me time.” However, he can still find a way to live dangerously, having swum with the sharks in the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.

A collector of guitars and lighters, he counts Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy among his favorite guitarists and boasts a collection of lighters dating back to the 1930s, including some soldier-issued World War II lighters.

Difference Between High Spin and Low Spin Complexes | 60S Today

The key difference between high spin and low spin complexes is that high spin complexes contain unpaired electrons, whereas low spin complexes tend to contain paired electrons.

The terms high spin and low spin are related to coordination complexes. These are called spin states of complexes. We can determine these states using crystal field theory and ligand field theory. Generally, octahedral complexes and tetrahedral complexes are high spin, while square planar complexes are low spin.

1. Overview and Key Difference 2. What are High Spin Complexes 3. What are Low Spin Complexes 4. Side by Side Comparison – High Spin vs Low Spin Complexes in Tabular Form 5. Summary

What are High Spin Complexes?

High spin complexes are coordination complexes containing unpaired electrons at high energy levels. Since they contain unpaired electrons, these high spin complexes are paramagnetic complexes. This means these complexes can be attracted to an external magnetic field.

A high spin energy splitting of a compound occurs when the energy required to pair two electrons is greater than the energy required to place an electron in a high energy state. Usually, octahedral and tetrahedral coordination complexes are high spin complexes.

What are Low Spin Complexes?

Low spin complexes are coordination complexes containing paired electrons at low energy levels. Since there are no unpaired electrons in the low spin complexes (all the electrons are paired), they are diamagnetic. This means these compounds cannot be attracted to an external magnetic field. The low energy splitting of a compound occurs when the energy required to pair two electrons is lower than the energy required to place an electron in a low energy state. Usually, square planar coordination complexes are low spin complexes.

In order to determine whether a given coordination complex is a high spin complex or a low spin complex, we can use the following tips.

  1. Determination of the shape of the complex
  2. Determination of the oxidation state of the metal centre
  3. Determination of the d electron configuration of the metal
  4. Determination of the crystal field diagram of the complex with regards to its geometry
  5. Determination whether the splitting energy is greater than the pairing energy

What is the Difference Between High Spin and Low Spin Complexes?

The key difference between high spin and low spin complexes is that high spin complexes contain unpaired electrons, whereas low spin complexes tend to contain paired electrons. In high spin complexes, the energy required to pair up two electrons is greater than the energy required to place an electron of that complex in a high energy level. In contrast, in low spin complexes, the energy required to pair two electrons is lower than the energy required to place an electron in a high energy level.

Furthermore, another significant difference between high spin and low spin complexes is that the high spin complexes are paramagnetic because they have unpaired electrons, but low spin complexes are diamagnetic because they have all electrons paired. Generally, tetrahedral and octahedral compounds are high spin while square planar compounds are low spin.

Difference Between High Spin and Low Spin Complexes in Tabular Form

Summary – High Spin vs Low Spin Complexes

There are two types of spin states of coordination complexes. These are the high spin state and the low spin state. The key difference between high spin and low spin complexes is that high spin complexes contain unpaired electrons, whereas low spin complexes tend to contain paired electrons.
