History
The Taylormade, as we know, is one of the best golf brands. The secret of being best in the market lies in is history. It was Gary Adams, and his three employees, who changed the history of the golf by introducing the iron drivers in 1979.
Their mission was “To create the best-performing golf equipment in the game.” Introducing the Iron drivers was the first baby step of Taylormade company in becoming great. The Iron drivers became an immediate hit among the tour professionals and amateurs alike.
They started preferring TaylorMade Irons over others. In 2004, TaylorMade introduced Movable Weight Technology (MWT) through which the golfers could change the location of the center of gravity of drivers to help manage ball flight. Within the first year of the introduction of MWT technology, it became golfers’ favorite. It helped win 28 worldwide tours, which also includes four championships.
It helped TaylorMade achieve new heights in terms of business. TaylorMade became the first choice of golf club members and other golf players alike. The latest of the irons from TaylorMade are famously known as M series irons with variants M2, M2, and M4.
The first of the M series Irons is M1 irons. The M Irons came out and evolved from its ancestor irons. They started as Technician (1984) and evolved as ICW11 (1991), ICW Mid Tour (1992), Burner Midsize (1993), Burner Bubble Oversized (1996), Ti Bubble 2 (1997), FireSole (1999), RAC OS (2002), R7 (2006), R7 CGB Max (2007), Burner XD (2008), Tour Burner (2008), Burner (2009), R9 TP (2009), Burner 2.0 (2009), R11 (2011), RocketBladez (2013), SLDR (2014), RSi1 (2015), RSi2( 2015) to M series (M1, M2 (2016), M2 (2017), M3 and M4).
The M Series Irons
The TaylorMade M series irons are for golf players who aspire to be one of the bests in the future. These irons are the perfect choice for such golf players. TaylorMade company offers three variants of M series irons; M2, M3, and M4. The M2 has two variants; M2 (2016) and M2 (2017).
Prestige and quality of the Taylormade irons are just two of the distinctions. Your heart resonates with the feel of the distinct sound it produces when the ball is hit.
The M series (M2, M3 & M4) irons bring with them the consistency, accuracy, and forgiveness that the golfers yearn for. The tech gurus of TaylorMade have leveraged the organizational knowledge, customer feedback, and managerial input have produced M2 irons, which delivers greater distance with greater accuracy and heights to win the excellent golf game. The M2 series variants, M2 (2016) and M2 (2017), are different from each other. Their differences are discussed below.
TaylorMade M2 Irons: Difference between M2 (2016) and M2 (2017)
The difference between the 2016 M2 Iron and 2017 M2 Irons is more than differential, which makes 2017 M2 Irons a better choice than its immediate predecessor 2016 M2 Irons. However, one must keep in mind that the difference between the two is not as much as it was between the 2016 M2 Irons and M1 Irons. Though similar in spin and distance, the 2016 M2 Irons has higher forgiveness and better feel.
The M2 Irons TaylorMade has designed, are a lot better in performance than M1 irons. The M1 Irons are offered less forgiveness than the M2 Irons. M1 Irons offer has a compact structure and offers thin top lines and soles than M2 Irons.
It is worth mentioning here that M2 Irons are a better choice than the M1 irons. However, the M2 Iron variants 2016 M2 Irons and 2017 M2 Irons are different from each other on different fronts. In the following section, the two variants of M2 irons that are M2 (2016) and M2 (2017) are compared to each.
Look and Feel of M2 Irons 2016 vs 2017
The Looks of M2 Irons (2017) has better looks and feel than the M2 Iron (2016). The M2 Irons (2017) is sleeker than 2016 irons. The change of color from yellow to light green moves with the golf course and have a soothing effect.
The finish has also been improved. The 2017 iron comes with a chrome finish, and it is likely to last long compared to the raw black finish of its earlier 2016 version. However, both the variants are made up of cast irons instead of forged or other forms of steal. The feel of the two variants of M2 Irons is comparable.
Both the irons have a lightweight shaft coupled with a medium-sized head. The feel has been made better without compromising the face slot. However, the 2016 M2 Iron does not offer the face slot. It is mainly because adding a face slot gives a more massive head, which eventually increases the center of gravity.
But, since, the 2017 M2 Irons are better with the face slots as they appeared in RSi Irons. It helps in having the forgiveness which has been well achieved in 2017 M2 Irons than in 2016 M2 Irons.
Performance of M2 Irons 2016 vs 2017
The performance parameter of M2 Irons is in favor of 2017 Irons. The 2017 Irons offer better distance and better forgiveness. The forgiveness offered by 2017 Irons is better than any of its predecessors, including M1 irons. The 2017 M2 Irons TaylorMade has designed better performance than the 2016 M2 Irons.
The TaylorMade has achieved the lightweight in 2017 M2 Irons without compromising the stability, and yet the 2017 M2 Irons are offering higher forgiveness, speed saving, and distance. Therefore, it has a better performance than the 2016 M2 Irons. Between the two irons M2 2016 vs 2017, the latter has a better sound and forgiveness than the former. This gives better accuracy to Iron M2 (2017).
The technological gap between the two Irons is furthered, as Iron M2 (2017) is geocoustically advanced. Another important aspect of performance is a face slot. The face slot provides additional forgiveness. At which the 2017 Irons are better.
Sound and Adjustability of M2 Irons 2016 vs 2017
The TaylorMade M2 Irons have been thoroughly worked at to maintain the TaylorMade signature sound. The 2017 M2 Irons are better in having the signature TaylorMade sound than the 2016 M2 Irons.
As far as the adjustability of the Irons is concerned, the 2016 and 2017 M2 irons do not offer adjust-ability. Therefore, the M2 Iron variants do not compete on the feature.
