COMMENT FETER LE CARNAVAL A MADÉRE? | 60S Today

36

Laguna Loire

Gameplay details

I speak with passion, from the heart! That’s what matters most.

Laguna Loire is a temporarily playable character in Final Fantasy VIII. For most of the game the player experiences Laguna through playable flashbacks explained to the player as the main characters’ dreams. He wields a machine gun.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

CG portrait.

Laguna has shoulder-length dark hair and green eyes. Laguna’s in-game render depicts his hair as black, but in his menu portrait and concept art it is cocoa brown. As a Galbadian soldier Laguna wears the regular blue uniform without the helmet. His civilian attire consists of a medium blue jacket with white studs and grooves, white undershirt, brown pants, black boots and dog tags. As he ages Laguna adopts a casual appearance, wearing a baby-blue button-up shirt with khaki slacks and sandals with his hair tied back, still sporting his dog tags.

Laguna’s machine gun is a standard Galbadian machine gun he wields during his travels in Final Fantasy VIII. During a minigame Laguna briefly fights with a gunblade. In Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy Laguna continues to use his machine gun as his primary weapon, but also has an arsenal of different firearms and explosives: shotgun, a close range weapon capable of being charged up to increase its range and damage; sniper rifle, which, aside from shooting directly at the target, can aim at walls, the ground and ceilings to make the bullet ricochet, and, like the shotgun, the rifle can be charged up to shoot multiple bullets; sticky bombs, special grenades that stick to the target before blowing up, and a miniature Ragnarok Cannon, a scaled version of the Ragnarok airship that works as a portable laser cannon. When performing his EX Burst Laguna rides the Ragnarok cannon while blasting the opponent with laser beams.

Personality[]

An energetic man with a big heart. Uses a machine gun. Fires bursts at enemies to help party members in danger.

Laguna, Kiros, and Ward.

Laguna is cheerful, generous and kindhearted. He is respected among his comrades, Kiros Seagill and Ward Zabac, although they scorn him at times for his impulsive attitude, but ultimately rely on him for guidance and direction. Laguna is courageous in the face of danger and especially when his friends are in trouble. When given time to think about the danger he is in, Laguna can become hesitant, but he is always willing to put his life on the line for the sake of justice.

Laguna makes up phrases on the fly whenever he does not know the correct word to a phrase. Laguna’s friends laugh at him for his mistakes to which Laguna usually becomes embarrassed and ends the conversation. He is known for his inability to talk to women, though he exclaims it is only “beautiful women” around whom he gets nervous. When Laguna gets nervous his right leg cramps up.

Story[]

Gameplay[]

Laguna is playable during dream sequences, and always takes Squall’s junctions. His weapon of choice is the Machine Gun. His Limit Break is Desperado, in which he uses hand grenades and machine guns to damage all opponents at once.

As with other characters, a Triple Triad card based on Laguna can be obtained. It is not possible to play Triple Triad as Laguna, but by reading the notes on old magazines that appear randomly when looking through the magazine stacks in the Dollet pub V.I.P room as Squall, the player can discover that the pub owner once played cards against Laguna and considered him a worthy opponent.

The player can find Timber Maniacs magazine issues scattered around the world with articles Laguna submitted during the time he was looking for a way to get to Esthar to save Ellone. Reading the magazines adds new chapters to Selphie’s Sir Laguna’s Page that can be read from the study panel in Balamb Garden’s classroom. Reading some specific issues at the right time can also slightly alter the dream sequences.

Musical themes[]

Laguna’s theme is “The Man with the Machine Gun”, which is used as the battle theme for the scenes in which the player controls Laguna’s party. The song has also appeared in the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and in Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon, and has appeared in numerous arranged albums and been performed in Final Fantasy concerts.

Other appearances[]

Laguna has appeared in the following games throughout the Final Fantasy series:

  • PocketStation memorycard icons as an icon.
  • Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy as a playable character.
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia as a playable character.
  • Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call as a playable charater.
  • Pictlogica Final Fantasy as a playable character.
  • Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade as a summonable Legend.
  • Final Fantasy Record Keeper as a playable character.
  • Final Fantasy World Wide Words.
  • Final Fantasy Trading Card Game as a series of cards.
  • Triple Triad as a card.

Non-Final Fantasy guest appearances[]

  • Monster Strike as a playable character.

Other media[]

Laguna’s Limit Break, Desperado, is the Japanese name of Sazh Katzroy’s full ATB skill in Final Fantasy XIII. The name was changed in the English releases to “Cold Blood”.

In Dissidia Final Fantasy, a Ghost Card bearing Laguna’s name can be fought. The Laguna ghost is a Level 24 Squall, equipped with Mythril equipment and the Machine Gun weapon, a reference to Laguna’s signature artillery. The accessories White Gem and Occult Fan can be won from the ghost via battlegen. The quote on the card Just for that, you’re gettin’ the Cuchi-cuchi treatment is what Laguna said to Ward during their escape from Esthar soldiers in Centra Excavation Site. The Occult Fan alludes to the magazine that can be collected in the Esthar presidential palace.

Laguna was originally planned to appear in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, and a scenario was planned where he would be the one in charge of the Mirage Arena. However, due to his inclusion in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, he was left out.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Laguna Loire and Squall Leonhart.

Kazushige Nojima planned for the two playable parties—Squall Leonhart’s present day group and Laguna Loire’s group from the past—to contrast with one another. Laguna’s group consists of characters in their late twenties who have plenty of combat experience and are close friends who have fought together for a time and trust one another. Squall’s party on the other hand is young and inexperienced, and Squall himself does not initially understand the value of friendship.

The concept of two main characters was planned since the beginning of the game’s development. Tetsuya Nomura tried to create a contrast between Laguna’s and Squall’s occupations; thus, Laguna became a soldier and Squall became a mercenary student. The designers intended Laguna to be similar to the previous protagonists in the Final Fantasy series to complement Squall, who is different from previous main characters.[5]

Scenario writer Kazushige Nojima initially envisioned for Laguna’s part to encompass the first half of the game. It ended up being cut down “due to various reasons,” and the map made just for Laguna’s timeline did not get much use.[6]

Laguna’s green pickup.

Various examples of unused backgrounds hint that Laguna may have possessed a lime-green convertible pickup truck during his time in Winhill. Laguna’s black-and-white intro picture depicts him driving said car, and the artisan in Shumi Village—one of the places Laguna spent time in—has a miniature model of itMiniature green pick-up at Artisan's house. The car can be found in the garage in Ellone’s parents’ house where Laguna resides during his stay at Winhill if the location is hacked into the game. The car, however, is never used as Laguna’s car in the final game.

In the Debug Menu, among the FMVs listed for disc 2, are ones called Laguna/Squall watching the moon. When played, they show scenes from the Battle of the Gardens—indicating these FMVs were left out. There also exists a promotional CG artwork that depicts Squall and Laguna looking at the night sky, which may have been part of this unused FMV at one point. There are also dozens of unused battle formations with Esthar soldiers being fought in Esthar City. All this may indicate that a good portion of Laguna scenes may have been cut.

Laguna fights a Ruby Dragon with a gunblade.

The film Laguna and his friends were in while raising money is implied to have inspired the dream of Squall’s rival, Seifer Almasy. Seifer wants to become a sorceress’ knight like the character Laguna played, named “Zefer” according to the Final Fantasy VIII Ultimania.[7] Seifer has the same battle stance as Laguna did when acting in the film, and in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia reveals he is a fan of Laguna and his inspiration for taking up a gunblade.

Laguna’s connection to Winhill is alluded to in the present day timeline. When approaching his office within the presidential palace in Esthar City, a detailed portrait of downtown Winhill is placed above the doors. If Squall’s party visits Winhill in present times they find the town guarded by two SeeD drop-outs, having been hired by an undercover figure who helps the town, likely meaning Laguna.

Merchandise[]

The Banpresto Final Fantasy VIII Laguna Loire figures were released in 1999, and has Laguna on a black stand touting his machine gun. These were won from crane catcher games in Japan. Also in 1999 Kotobukiya released Laguna Loire 1/6 Scale Figure of Laguna, and Bandai released an official action figure the same year. Manufactured by Banpresto, a Laguna keyholder also exists, available briefly from crane catcher games in Japan.

The first Final Fantasy themed Coca-Cola marketing campaign brought Final Fantasy figures attached to Coca-Cola products sold in shops, the first edition containing characters from Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII, thus including Laguna. The variants were “deformed” (big head, disproportionate body), “real” (more realistically proportioned), and “crystal” (solid red figurines).

A physical version of Triple Triad was released as merchandise, containing Laguna’s card.

Etymology[]

[view · edit · purge]Laguna is the Romanian, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Tagalog, Spanish and Portuguese word for “lagoon”, a shallow body of salt water separated from larger seas by small sandbanks or coral reefs. Additionally, Laguna is a Spanish term for a “mental blackout” – periods where one loses consciousness and is unable to remember what happened during that time when one wakes up. In Basque, laguna means “the friend”.

All of these traits befit the character, as both his wife and son share a name linking to water. Further contrast between the two protagonists is seen in the etymology of their names: “Laguna” refers to a serene body of water, and “squall” refers to a tempestuous windstorm.

Laguna’s name in Japanese, (ラグナ, Raguna?), is spelled the same as the first three characters in the name of the Ragnarok (ラグナロク, Ragunaroku?). This is noted in-game when Laguna says, “I always wanted to ride that thing. Plus the name sounds so cool!”

[view · edit · purge]The Loire [lwaʁ] is the longest river in France. There is also a department called “Loire” and “Haute-Loire” in Rhône-Alpes’ region.

Two teams checked in during their penalty time, dropping Mark & Michael to 3rd. 4: Kisha & Jen initially arrived 3rd, but were not allowed to check in because they had left their travel documents and money at the location of the Roadblock; they were instructed to retrieve them before they could check in. Tammy & Victor checked in while Kisha & Jen went back, dropping them to 4th; Mark & Michael also arrived during this time, but were unable to check in due to penalties accumulated during the leg (see note 5). 5: Mark & Michael initially arrived 4th, but were issued two 2-hour penalties, both for “using personal belongings to settle a bill” (they had bartered personal items to pay two taxi fares). With just over 3 hours of the penalty time remaining, Kisha & Jen returned to check in 4th. Mark & Michael, in last place at that point, were allowed to check in immediately after Kisha & Jen; however, they were notified the leg was a Non-Elimination Leg, and that the remaining penalty would be assessed at the start of the next Leg. 6: Leg 10 was a double-length leg, with 2 Roadblocks and 2 Detours, shown over two episodes. The placements listed in the first column reflect the order teams arrived at the leg’s halfway point. The U-Turn appeared after the second Detour.

Golf

how many golf balls can fit in a school bus

72

How many golf balls can perfectly fit in a school bus? This is definitely a question that many people have come across. To get the answer, we will have to use a mathematical approach since both the bus and golf balls have actual measurements. Read on to know the number of golf balls that can fit into your average school bus.

How Many Golf Balls Can Fit In a School Bus

What Is a Golf Ball?

A golf ball or a ‘tee’ is a specialized ball that is designed for use in the game of golf. Just like best golf clubs, golf balls are dependent on testing and approval by organizations like the United States Golf (USGA) and the R&E the Association (previously part of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews). You cannot enjoy a game of golf without golf balls and this makes it a major element in this sport. There are set regulations regarding the design of golf balls and those that do not adhere to these regulations cannot be used in golf competitions.

The Actual Size of a Golf Ball

Actual Size of a Golf Ball

To determine the number of golf balls that will perfectly fit into a school bus, we need to know the actual size of golf balls. The R&E and UGSA have set the minimum dimensions that a golf ball should have. According to these rules, golf balls should have a diameter of about 1.680 inches or 42.67 mm and a weight of not more than 1.620oz or 45.93grams. Such balls perform within the specified distance, velocity, and symmetry limits.

Golf balls that are bigger than this size are still acceptable in golf games, however, smaller sizes are disqualified. To avoid complications, especially for professional games, most golfers opt for the standard size of a diameter of 1.68 inches. Ensure that you fill your school bus with the standard-sized golf balls when counting the number of balls that can fit into an average school bus.

School Bus Size and Volume

For all those years you were in school, have you ever wondered about the volume or size of your yellow school bus? Well, this is a question that never crosses the minds or though patterns of many people. An average school bus has a length of 20ft, a width of 8 ft, and a height of 6ft. therefore, this means that your school bus will have a volume of 20ft x 8ft x 6ft =960 cubic feet. One cubic foot has 1728 cubic inches. So this means that 960 cubic feet will translate to 1.6 cubic inches.

The Volume of a Golf Ball

For us to find the actual number of golf balls that can fit into a school bus, we need to determine the volume of the golf ball. The standard size of golf balls is a diameter of 1.68 inches. To find the radius of the golf ball we divide the diameter by two, which gives us 0.84 inches. So we can now calculate the volume which equals to 4/3 * 3.1416 *0.84 = 2.5 cubic inches. Keep in mind that the value of pi here is 3.1416

The Solution

To find out the number of golf balls that can fit into a school bus we take the volume of the school bus divided by the volume of the standard golf ball. So, when we divide 1.6 cubic inches by 2.5 cubic inches we get 660,000 balls. Since a school bus is not empty and has some space occupied by the engine and seats, it is best that we round off this figure to 500,000. This means that a school bus can accommodate 500,000 golf balls.

However, it is likely that that figure is at least a little bit higher when considering her career earnings and her income from her endorsement deals.

Lexi’s net worth has been garnered over her 11-year career with calculated earnings of $10.8 million. That’s definitely not shabby when you consider that she makes an estimated $3.4 million each year in endorsement deals alone.

Lexi rakes in the dough from high profile endorsement deals with companies like Bridgestone. She has also been sponsored by the likes of Cobra and Puma golf.

Career Then And Now

As alluded to earlier, Lexi’s career began back when she was only 12 years old. At 12, she qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open, becoming the youngest player in history ever to do so. She turned professional at the age of 15.

Just a year after her pro debut, she became the youngest female player to win an LPGA event. This happened in 2011 at the Navistar LPGA Classic. Since then she has just kept racking up the wins.

One of her most notable LPGA Tour wins came in 2014 when she topped the field at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and beat out the LPGA juggernaut Michelle Wie by a total of 3 strokes. This snagged Lexi her first and only Major championship.

She even has a couple of wins on the Ladies European Tour and the LGPA Japan Tour. Today she is ranked 9th overall by the Rolex player ranking system.

So far in 2021, Lexi has performed with a tied for 17th place finish in the Lotte Championship, a tied for 36th place finish at the ANA Inspiration event and is currently tied for 88th in the Kingsmill Championship just to name a few.

Last year, Lexi notably switched her then caddie, Benji Thompson with Tim Tucker. Many of you are probably familiar with Tucker as he has also been on the bag for Bryson DeChambeau.

Lexi Thompson Golf Stats

Lexi Thompson boasts an average driving distance of about 277 yards. In 2017, she was ranked as high as 4th overall by the Rolex player ranking system.

She has racked up a total of 11 wins on the LPGA Tour including one Major win. She is currently ranks 5th on the money list in 2021.

Lexi also sports a driving accuracy rating of 77.68% in 2021 which, is good for 92nd overall. So far in the season, she has finished with 21 rounds under par which, ranks her at 10th overall for the year.

She has also racked up 116 birdies and 5 eagles, putting her at 10th and 1st place in those categories respectively.

Lexi Thompson’s Early Life

Thompson grew up in a quite yet sports oriented home. She is the youngest of 3 siblings: herself and two older brothers, Curtis and Nicholas.

Growing up, Thompson was home schooled but that didn’t stop her from developing an interest in golf and hockey early on.

While she has obviously pursued a career in golf, she is still an avid hockey fan and supports her home state NHL team the Florida Panthers.

Golf was a common theme in the Thompson residence. Her older brother Nicholas has played on the PGA tour and Curtis is a collegiate player.

Lexi Thompson’s Personal Life

Lexi has one a good job of keeping her personal life away from the public eye. While we don’t know whether she is currently dating someone or not, we at least know that she has never been married.

In 2018, she announced that she would be taking a hiatus from golf to deal with personal issues.

While the specifics were not revealed, many believe that the hiatus was spurred by the loss of her grandmother and her mother being diagnosed with cancer. Lexi has no kids.

Where Does Lexi Thompson Live?

Although it is unclear exactly where Lexi Thompson currently lives, we do know that she takes up residence in Florida.

Sources have confirmed that she has previously sought real estate in the Palm Beach Gardens area.

That makes sense too because Palm Beach Gardens is an attractive spot for golfers. Some of the game’s most prolific pros live in the area.

Lexi Thompson on Social

Lexi is pretty active on both Instagram and YouTube where you can see a good example of her golf swing.

You can also check out her frequent posts on Instgram which, include some model-worthy fashion snaps along with pictures at the gym and on the course.

Closing Words

Over the years, Thompson has shown the world that she is a strong and resilient force to be reckoned with – both on and off the course.

Though her personal battles may have hindered her play as of late, we have no doubt that Thompson will persevere and find herself back on top.

If her early career is any indication, then we can expect great things to come from this 26 year-old golfing phenomenon. In any case, hers is a career that the golf world can’t help but to keep a close eye on.

Just a few more odds and ends before we flip off the Undead Settlement for good.

Dark Souls 3: Rotted Greatwood to Road of Sacrifices

We have a few boxes to tick before we get outta here. Hand the Mortician’s Ashes over to the Shrine Handmaiden vendor if you haven’t already, and then purchase the Grave Key for 1,500 souls. Travel to Dilapidated Bridge and enter the sewers, unlocking the door.

In the tunnels, turn right at the junction and collect the Loincloth. You can pray at the statue here if you’ve been invading and regret it. On the other fork, grab the Red-hilted Halberd from the corner when the room opens up, then plunge into the next tunnel.

The next room contains skeletons. Good news for series veterans: they’re not resistant to slash damage. They’re honestly nothing compared to other things you’ve dealt with so far; just vanilla melee, and you can even attack them while they’re assembling. There are four before you can safely collect the Soul of an Unknown Traveller, and one more as you move on to the next area.

The next skeleton won’t assemble till you walk past. Quickly turn and kill it when you hear the audio cue, then put your shield up to face a one-armed skeleton from further in the tunnel. This variant can fly at you swinging its sword like a helicopter rotor, which is less than ideal.

There are no more nasty surprises so continue on until you can see an open area ahead. Peek out to the right; there’s a grunt and a Crystal Lizard. Lure the grunt to you with a ranged attack so you can safely make a rush on the lizard and collect the Heavy Gem it carries. You can grab a couple of Titanite Shards at the far end of this canyon, but you need to watch out for the woodsman who drops down from above when you approach this area.

Head through the tunnel opposite where you entered this ravine and shoot down the corpse above to collect a Blessed Red and White Shield +1. The door to the next room is right by where it falls. There’s one rat waiting for you in the dark, but six more rats swarm in as you cross the room. You may want to sprint back to the ladder – or across to the next one – so you can attack them from safety.

Up the opposite ladder you’ll find Irina of Carim. Speak to her, agree to touch her, then speak to her again to receive the Prayer emote. Accept her service to transport her to Firelink Shrine; she sells miracles (faith spells).

Open the locked door and speak to Eygon. He is available to summon in battles and will remain friendly as long as Irina is alive.

Return to either Dilapidated bridge or Cliff Underside and make your way back to the church with the elevator. Take it down (you may need send it up first, so you can climb on the lower platform) to the basement.

Be very cautious approaching the second room. The beast-like knight inside is called an Outrider, and it’s very dangerous – a bit like a miniature Vordt. Anything you’ve got to resist frost is a help, and fire attacks are a bonus.

If you’re not up to this daunting task, cheese it. Without entering the room carefully stick an arrow in the Outrider’s head, then retreat. When you return to the door a few moments later, it’ll be pacing somewhere in the room. You can usually find a clear shot on it between the columns if you time it right. Run all the way back to the lift between shots, and take it upwards if the outrider advances into the previous room (it usually won’t but better safe than sorry). At low health it gets more aggressive in investigating, and may also return to its initial position and hold still, so adjust your aim to match.

Update: commenter fn noobee suggests using the lift to kill the Outrider; lure it close to the lift and travel upwards, so the Outrider falls in the shaft as it tried to get to you or wanders back to its room. It may take a few tries. It’s similar to the Darkwraith cheese described below.

When the outrider goes down you’ll receive the Irithyll Straight Sword, which is a handy frost weapon. The item in the middle of the room is an Ember. More excitingly, open the doors and activate the Road of Sacrifices bonfire.

Before we move on: if you killed the Demon with Siegward and collected a Pale Tongue (or otherwise obtained one), you may want to return to Firelink to speak to Leonhard to receive the Lift Chamber Key. Take this to the locked door in the basement under the Tower on the Wall bonfire in High Wall of Lothric to battle a Darkwraith – that is, a player-like enemy.

This guy is a nightmare for non-melee characters, but – and we’re also very sorry about this – he’s very easy to cheese. Get up in his face, then run back to the lift and ride it upwards. The Darkwraith will fall down the shaft and die. Job done. If it doesn’t work, try it again a few times after resetting at the bonfire.

However you kill him, your reward is the Red Eye Orb. Return to Leonhard at Firelink Shrine and speak to him to receive the Applause emote – and an invite to join another covenant, which you can cash in later.

Continue via Road of Sacrifices to Halfway Fortress.
